American Dreamers Piece

Drawing Series: "Mayberry"
19.5 x 29.5 cm
Ink and wash on watercolor paper and transparency paper, water color on paper

For the American Dreamers art show in Florence, Italy, I was inspired by the song “Mayberry,” by Rascal Flatts. The song tells of the “good ol' times in America, when family, friends, and enjoying life were more important than making money and making the most out of each and every minute. I composed various scenes from the song, that can be viewed physically or on video. They go in a particular order: with an exception of the first two drawings, the paper drawings should be viewed first, followed by the transparency on top. This not only follows the song lyrics, but also contrasts the way things used to be, and the way they are today.
